The holiday season is one of our favorite times of the year to give back. At The Dewitt Tilton Group, we’ve been so blessed throughout 2021, so we’re paying it forward to others. There are so many children in our community whose Christmas list is more than just toys – it includes basic necessities, like a nutritious meal to eat.
That’s why we were thrilled to volunteer again this year with the Backpacks of Love program supporting Richmond Hill families in need during the holiday season. This is the third year the Dewitt Tilton Group has worked with the Backpacks of Love program which began in 2013. This year, we not only donated $1,000, but our team also helped assemble food packages for this wonderful organization.

Along with volunteers from Backpacks of Love, our team prepared the special holiday packages at New Beginning Church in Richmond Hill on Dec. 14. We filled the packages with traditional holiday food items like ham and turkey along with shelf-stable items like canned fruits and vegetables. These packages will help the recipients create a holiday meal and have some staples going beyond the holidays.
“The success of our company is due in part to the growth of Richmond Hill, and we’ve always believed in paying it forward,” said The Dewitt Tilton Group President Chris Tilton. “Backpacks of Love is an organization we’ve become close to and are proud to support. We’re in awe of their year-round commitment to helping hungry children.”

Backpacks of Love was founded in 2013 by McAllister Elementary School employee Melodie Lane. The group sends packages
of quality, nourishing food home with students in need each Friday and before extended school breaks. A partnership between United Way of the Coastal Empire and the New Beginnings Community Church provides funding to procure food from Second Harvest Food Bank. The Dewitt Tilton Group is proud to be just one of the local companies, along with individuals, that strengthen this amazing organization.
“Year after year, we are humbled by the kindness of companies in the community like The Dewitt Tilton Group,” Lane said. “We operate year-round, but their generosity is extra appreciated during the holiday season.”
