There is a certain momentum to doing good deeds. When you volunteer your time, effort, or the fruits of your labor, the feeling often makes you want to do more. A perfect example occurred after The Dewitt Tilton Group became the title sponsor and participated in the WTKS News Radio "Shop With a Cop" program. A project benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire, "Shop With a Cop" collects donations from the community and local businesses prior to Christmas. Children from families at Ronald McDonald House go on a gift-shopping trip with local police officers with the money raised by the generous folks of Savannah and the Lowcountry.

While at Ronald McDonald House for a check presentation DTG's President, Chris Tilton met a pediatric patient whose family stayed there while she was hospitalized. It was a revelation. Tilton was inspired after meeting her and talking with her family. So, shortly after the check presentation ceremony, he took the time to learn more about Ronald McDonald House Charities.
“I was moved by her bravery and gratitude. It was a short but extraordinary conversation that really opened my eyes to what a wonderful service Ronald McDonald House provides. I needed and wanted to find out more,” said Tilton.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire helps families of seriously ill and injured children cope with the stress and expense of daily living while remaining close by and emotionally strong for their child. More than just a room and a hot meal, Ronald McDonald House is a home-away-from-home for families faced with a child’s medical crisis. It can be a quiet place to be alone, or a place of companionship, sharing, and emotional support. The national program began in 1974, with the Coastal Empire chapter opening in 1987. This year, RMHC is proud to be celebrating its 35th year of serving this community.
“Meeting those folks really stuck with me, and after learning more about Ronald McDonald House, The Dewitt Tilton Group decided to step up and do more to help this incredible organization,” Tilton added.
